Infrastructure and Renovation Projects
Since 2020, the EMSB has completed several major renovations and infrastructure projects aimed at improving facilities and enhancing the learning environment for students across its schools. Here are some of the key projects:
Westmount Park Elementary School
A major $20-million renovation to this historic 105-year-old building included extensive repairs, modernized classrooms with interactive SMART boards, and height-adjustable desks. The project took two years to complete.
James Lyng Complex
A $5.5 million renovation was completed, which upgraded the facilities at this St. Henri campus. This complex serves James Lyng High School and includes an adult education center as well as alternative high schools.
LaurenHill Academy Pool Complex
A $1.9 million renovation overhauled the swimming pool, locker rooms, and washroom facilities at LaurenHill Academy’s Junior Campus. This upgrade provides students with a modernized facility for physical education and extracurricular activities.
Air Quality Improvements
In response to concerns about air quality, the EMSB installed 800 air purifiers in classrooms across the district that did not have mechanical ventilation.
These projects demonstrate the EMSB’s commitment to ensuring that students and staff have access to safe, up-to-date, and fully equipped learning environments.
