Mario PIETRANGELO

Dedicated Leader, Committed to Community and Education

Born and raised in Saint Leonard, Mario is a proud graduate of Laurier Macdonald High School. He went on to complete the Police Technology program at John Abbott College, which led to a fulfilling 30-year career as a police officer in Montreal. He retired in 2016 as a supervisor and was honored to receive the Police Exemplary Medal from the Governor General in 2006 in recognition of his distinguished service.

Since his retirement, Mario has devoted himself to giving back to the community, particularly through his involvement with the English Montreal School Board. He served on Governing Boards, the Parents’ Committee, and the PPO, and in 2019, was elected as the School Commissioner for Saint-Leonard. His experience in community relations and problem-solving, combined with his patience and strong communication skills, has allowed him to manage projects and navigate challenging situations with ease.

Over the past five years, Mario has worked closely with the administration of Saint-Leonard’s schools to create leadership programs for Laurier Macdonald High School students, who mentor and coach elementary students in various sports. He also collaborated with John Abbott College’s Police Technology Program to bring drug and alcohol awareness initiatives to our schools, which have been warmly received by students and staff. Additionally, he has been working with the US consulate in Montreal and EMSB administration to further support our community.

As part of Team Joe Ortona, Mario is committed to defending the rights of the English-speaking community and fostering academic success. If re-elected, he will continue to develop innovative programs, enhance student enrollment, and ensure that our schools remain safe, enriching environments for all students.

Let’s work together to build a bright future for our schools!
