Paula KILIAN

Candidate for School Commissioner in Ward 9

Paula Kilian is running for School Commissioner in Ward 9, representing Mount Royal, Outremont, Park Extension, Villeray, and Saint-Michel. The schools in this ward are at the heart of our community, and she is dedicated to advocating for their continued success with integrity and passion.

Paula holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History and has over 20 years of experience in the travel industry. For the past 12 years, she has been a stay-at-home mom, where her connection to education deepened as she became actively involved in her children’s schooling. Since her daughter started kindergarten at Dunrae Gardens in 2013, she has been a dedicated volunteer, serving on the Family Association, governing board, and as a delegate on the EMSB Parents’ Committee. She played a key role in advocating for our school community, successfully preventing the construction of a large French school on our schoolyard.

Paula is running for School Commissioner because she believes in strong leadership and the power of collaboration. She admires Joe Ortona’s leadership and is excited to work alongside him to strengthen the EMSB. She firmly supports the EMSB’s legal challenges to Bills 21, 40, and 96, which are critical to protecting the rights of our English-speaking community.

Paula is also committed to improving school facilities, including the long-desired schoolyard beautification project at Dunrae Gardens, which will benefit both the school and the wider community. With the support of Mayor Malouf, Joe Ortona, and her team, she is confident we can make this vision a reality.

If elected, she promises to be an accessible and attentive commissioner, one who listens to parents, respects teachers, and advocates for students. She will work tirelessly to ensure that our schools thrive and that the needs of our community are met.
